Computer-to-plate, proofing, Mac stripping, graphic design
My focus is on obtaining a position in a commercial printing pre-press department where I can expand my skills in electronic page imposition and layout and increase my knowledge of practical graphic applications.
During my career in pre-press, I have had the opportunity to be part of the new wave of technology in the printing industry from hands on manual stripping and conventional plating and proofing, to digital imaging and electronic prep. My most recent experience is in digital plate and proof output.
I have entry level knowledge of the Rampage Ripping system and an introduction to Preps 4.0 layout in the Mac platform. I'm proficient in Quark Express 4.0, Photoshop 6.0 and Illustrator 9. Other skills include step and repeat operation, four color stripping and proof assembly. Additionally, I have excellent communication skills and proficiency in writing and editing copy and speak Spanish as a second language.
In the last four years, I have helped implement a digital working environment for two service bureaus that wanted to offer computer-to-plate services to their customers. I worked closely with clients, press personnel and mac operators to determine the exact plate specifications needed to create templates and grids for both sheet fed and web press plates. During the process, I developed an in house How-To manual, describing the process of digital plate output using the Rampage ripping system. My duties required that I maintain the Creo Trendsetter and Kodak plate processing line. I also ordered and kept track of all supplies and parts and performed routine diagnostics of the entire computer-to-plate system.
